Senior Vice President & Assistant General Auditor (Data Analytics and Innovation)
Derrick Thomas is Assistant General Auditor for The PNC Financial Services Group. In this role he is responsible for Internal Audit’s Data Analytics, Innovation and Advanced Automation function, including creating the vision and leading the group in the transformation of the way audit services are delivered through the use of analytics and innovation.
Mr. Thomas has been with PNC’s Internal Audit department for over 10 years. Prior to his current role, Derrick was an Audit Director on the Technology Audit Team, where he most recently led our department’s Advanced Data and Analytic Solution (DAS) function responsible for the development of data analytics, innovation, robotics process automation (RPA) solutions, including machine learning (M/L) and other forms of artificial cognitive intelligence automation. Derrick has over 20 years of experience auditing and leading Data Analytics.
Prior to joining PNC, Mr. Thomas held management positions at several fortune 500 companies in a number of different industries including financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and consumer products. He started his career with Price Waterhouse as a financial services auditor. His professional experience includes both domestic and international entities in Central America, Central and Middle Eastern Europe, and Canada. He specializes in data analytics, IT audit, project management, risk management, and security.
Mr. Thomas received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his Master’s degree from the same school in Accounting with a concentration in Information Systems. He has several professional licenses and certifications including a CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), and CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise Information Technology). Derrick recently completed Harvard’s highly recognized Business Analytics Program.
